CANADA | OMUDSPERSON OF BRITISH COLUMBIA PUBLISHES ANNUAL REPORT

Although Ombudswoman Kim Carter mentions many changes in the office of the ombudsperson, the goal – to ensure that people have access to an impartial, independent organization investigating complaints of unfair treatment by the provincial public authorities – remains the same. Therefore Carter points out, that the complaint investigations help the British Columbians as well as the provincial ministries, by providing a necessary balance between the needs of people and administrative efficiency.

Through provision of information and referrals, early resolution and investigation the office of the ombudsperson makes a significant contribution to ensure, that all people are treated fairly by their government. Carter hopes to develop new relationships and approaches to utilize the knowledge of effective public administration and good governance, of which British Columbians as well as all public authorities will benefit.
