On September 26, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Ms Valeriya Lutkovska, attended the 10th working meeting which was dedicated to the subject of tolerance and non-discrimination. At the meeting the speech of the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Ms Astrid Thors, was planned.
Also on the same day and within this event, a meeting of the Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms Valeriya Lutkovska, with the Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Mr Michael Link, was held during which issues of protection of human rights in Ukraine were discussed, in particular, in the context of armed conflict in the east of the country.
The agenda of the Annual Human Dimension Implementation Meeting of OSCE participating States foresees also working sessions concerning freedom of movement, expression of a thought and religion, gender equality and improvement of the situation of Roma and Sinti etc.
In 2016 OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) celebrates the 25-year anniversary. For today it is the leading organization for observation of elections in the region of OSCE which provides the expert assistance to governments and representatives of civil society, in particular, promoting strengthening of democratic institutes and respect for human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination, and also rule of law.
