Gibraltar laid its Annual Report 2015 before the Parliament on Wednesday 29th June 2016.
The report covers the period 1st January to 31st December 2015 and it contains summaries of investigations undertaken and completed during this period together with reviews and comments of the most salient issues of this last year.
It was a pleasure for the Ombudsman to prepare this annual report where he highlights the most significant recent development in the extension of the jurisdiction of his Office. That extension relates to the grant of jurisdiction for investigative purposes over the Gibraltar Health Authority (GHA) and, for the purpose of providing a front- line service to users, the creation of the Complaints Handling Scheme (CHS).
The inception of the new scheme has provided challenges but also a high measure of success in the independent analysis and resolution of complaints lodged by members of the public. The Ombudsman thanks the GHA staff for their cordial assistance and collaboration which has proved vital in allowing him to carry out his statutory duties in respect of health matters.
