Pakistan | School bulding completed by the order of Ombudsman Sindh

Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, was approached for completion of a school building in a village by a complainant. According to details, government had sanctioned construction of building for Government Primary School Abdul Rehman Talpur in March 2010 but despite the requisite formalities the school building was not completed. Consequently, 110 children of the village had been studying under the open sky, exposed to harsh weather.

Being custodian of public interest, Ombudsman Sindh issued directives to the authorities concerned to conduct enquiry against the responsible officers. Investigation revealed that the allegations leveled by the complainant were true. Contractor had left school building without executing certain items of work. Due to intervention of the Ombudsman, agency was forced to complete school building in all respect. On 26 June 2015 the complainant informed the Ombudsman that Education & Works Department had completed the school building.

This decision had provided urgent relief to the aggrieved community where the school was located. The complainant appreciated the role of the Ombudsman for taking prompt action and providing speedy justice.
