PAKISTAN/SINDH | Shifting of illegal factory from residential area

A complainant approached the Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh, Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, with a complaint against an illegal factory functioning within the densely populated residential area, causing disturbance and pollution which adversely affected the physical and mental health of the people.

Investigation ordered by the Ombudsman Sindh disclosed that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) initiated action to shift the factory from residential area but the owner remained adamant and resisted the agency action for shifting. Observing the public hue & cry the Ombudsman ordered the agency to take action in co-ordination with other civic authorities to provide relief to the people. These orders were complied with and the public nuisance was removed.

The complainant acknowledged and appreciated the prompt action of the Ombudsman in redressing their grievance.
