BAHRAIN | Shura committee - Ombudsman's Office cooperation discussed

The Shura Council Human Rights Committee hailed the efforts of the Ombudsman's Office in dealing with citizens' remarks and complaints. It stressed that the role and periodic reports of the Office indicate the advanced level of institutional and human rights work in Bahrain, as one of the components of the royal reforms. The committee made the remarks at a meeting today with the Ombudsman Nawaf Al Ma'awda and his accompanying delegation. The committee was briefed on the role of the Office in monitoring performance of the Interior Ministry personnel, the mechanisms followed in receiving complaints and cooperation with the military prosecution, the Interior Ministry Civil Investigation Committee, the Public Prosecution and the Special Investigation Unit. The committee praised the efforts of the Ombudsman's Office to win the confidence of the community and boost cooperation with all institutions and non-government organisations (NGOs) to promote justice and bolster the monitoring role on punitive institutions and performance of the military personnel with utter professionalism and objectivity.
