SYT –Training off to a promising start

This morning, Secretary General Peter Kostelka officially opened this year's SYT-Training in Vienna with a short introductory speech about the IOI and the role of Ombudsmen in general. The IOI's official project partner, Bank Austria/ UniCredit AG was represented by Director Rainer Hauser who also gladly took the opportunity to welcome the participants.

37 Participants from all over the world then engaged in the first session co-chaired by the Ontario Ombudsman, André Marin and his deputy, Barbara Finlay, who presented the objectives of the course and outlined the basic principles of systemic investigations.

The SYT, or "Sharpening Your Teeth" format, was originally invented by the Ontario Ombudsman in 2005 and consists in an educational programme for staff members of Ombudsman institutions. The second edition in Vienna will be concluded on 8 June 2011.
