After more than six months of facing challenges by the Lower House, the Ombudsman Bureau’s status was determined by a joint ‘voting’ session in favour of its existence within the government as an independent monitoring institution.
The previous debate proposed by the Parliament was to merge the Ombudsman Bureau with the Anti-Corruption Commission as one entity, assuming both entities had a similar mandate of operation; in the context of restructuring independent public institutions.
In the upcoming time period, a President will be appointed at the Ombudsman Bureau, as currently the Acting President is H.E. Ala’adin Armouti.
