NORTH AMERICA | USOA Conference announcement

The 34th Annual Conference of the United States Ombudsman Association (USOA) will be held in Indianapolis from 28 October to 1 November 2013. Conference host Charlene Burkett, Department of Corrections Ombudsman Bureau Director, and the USOA’s Conference and Planning Committee are seeking a keynote speaker and session presenters.

In the pre-conference sessions held on 28 and 29 October 2013, participants can choose between different two-day training programs. One will be provided by the Reid Institute on the Reid Technique of Investigation and focus on how to effectively conduct a non-accusatory investigative interview and assess the information gained. The other, the popular New Ombudsman Training, is designed for individuals who are new to the role of the governmental ombudsman and will focus on basic topics such as investigation techniques and offer a case study to enable participants to apply the knowledge to practice.
