AORC-IOI | Video link and speaker presentations for Webinar now available

On 13 October 2022, AORC and the IOI organized a webinar on the “UN Resolution on Ombudsman and Mediators, the Venice Principles and the OR Tambo Declaration”, to discuss how these instruments are used as tools to strengthen, protect, and promote the institution of the Ombudsman. You can now re-watch the webinar online and access the speaker presentations.

Speakers at this webinar included Mr. Marc Bertrand, Ombudsman of Wallonia and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, who spoke on the UN Resolution and the importance of making the work of Ombudsman more visible at the UN level; Ms. Caroline Martin, from the Council of Europe’s Venice Commission, who reported about the development of the Venice Principles and how they can assist Ombudsman around the world to strengthen their mandate. Mr. John Walters, former Ombudsman of Namibia, concluded the speaker line up with a presentation of the OR Tambo Declaration and the main principles relating to Ombudsman institutions that emanate from this declaration.
