During 7 and 9 May 2014, the Polish Human Rights Defender, Prof. Irena Lipowicz hosted a visit of Mr Mehmet Nihat Ömeroğlu, the Chief Ombudsman of the Republic of Turkey. During his stay Mr Ömeroğlu exchanged experiences concerning the classification of claims and met with experts dealing with labour law and social insurance as well as the Expert Committee on People with Disabilities.
Moreover, the Turkish delegation held a meeting with Mr Marek Michalak, the Children's Rights Commissioner and gave a lecture at the Warsaw University about his office's experiences since its installation in 2013. Mr Ömeroğlu visited Turkish nationals imprisoned in Warsaw.
The visit was held within the framework of the 600th anniversary of Polish-Turkish diplomatic relations.
