AORC-IOI | Webinar on “Dealing with Challenging Behaviour”

You are cordially invited to a webinar under the theme “Dealing with Challenging Behaviour”, which will be organized by the African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) in collaboration with the IOI on 15 November 2022.

Ombudsman worldwide share a lot in common, from similarities in jurisdiction and functions to funding and resource challenges. Perhaps most common is the experience of dealing with challenging behaviour from people who use their services.

People may be angry or frustrated when they approach the Ombudsman, sometimes with good reason. They might be vulnerable or distressed. They might not listen to the advice provided, and occasionally, they may even demonstrate abusive or threatening behaviour. Although this kind of behaviour is challenging and hard to deal with.

In collaboration with the IOI, AORC’s next Webinar on how to deal with challenging behaviour will discuss what challenging behaviour is and how to productively deal with it.

The Webinar will be held on 15 November 2022 at 10.00 am (GMT+2). Speakers at this webinar will inlcude: 

  • Hon. Joseph Whittal, Commissioner for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Ghana;
  • Adv. Neels Van der Merwe, Senior Investigator, Office of the PUblic Protector, South Africa;
  • Ms. Deborah Glass, Victorian Ombudsman, Australia
