At its annual meeting in New York in 2013, the IOI Board of Directors agreed that one of the IOI’s key priorities – to be considered in more details in the Institute’s long-term strategic planning – should be a revised communication and scientific publication policy.
To tab into the existing expertise of its membership, the communication specialists from seven IOI member institutions offered their support and expertise and participated in a Vienna-based workshop, which was chaired by former IOI Secretary General Dr. Peter Kostelka, with the aim of evaluating and informing a possible long-term communication and scientific publication strategy for the IOI.
The IOI working group – namely Mr Anders Jansson (Sweden), Mr Shabaka Kambon (Trinidad & Tobago), Mr David Kao (Taiwan), Ms Kgalalelo Masibi (South Africa), Mr Paul Michna (Alberta, Canada), Ms Linda Ochiel (Kenya) and Mr Oupa Segalwe (South Africa) – took the opportunity of this two-day workshop to gain more insight into the IOI and its work and discuss the fundamental basics of the IOI’s existing infrastructure in more details.
A summary of this first meeting of the IOI working group will be presented to the IOI Board of Directors during its next meeting in Vienna in October 2014.
