The Seimas Ombudsmen's Office of the Republic of Lithuania has been defending human rights and freedoms and investigating complaints about the abuse of office by or bureaucracy of state and municipal officials and since 2014 has been monitoring human rights at places of detention. The Ombudsman Institution has now published its Annual Report of the year 2016, detailing its activities and initiatives.

The Office of the Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT) launched a newletter called IGoT News!. The first edition was issued on 6 July 2017. IGoT News! will regularly inform its readers of the activities of the IGT and what it is hearing from the community, particularly from its complaint handling service.

Last year the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman made nearly 4,000 recommendations to put things right for people who had suffered injustice – it announced in its Annual Report and Accounts 2016-17, published today. The report details how the Ombudsman is making a difference through its investigations.
