APOR | Commonwealth Ombudsman elected as new Regional President

On 1 April 2014, Mr Colin Neave was unanimously elected as the new Regional President of the IOI's Australasian and Pacific Region in the course of its Regional Board meeting, with immediate effect. He succeeds Mr Chris Field, who was elected to the Executive Committee and to the position of Treasurer of the International Ombudsman Institute.

Prior to this new and important role, Mr Neave performed in senior leadership positions in the public sectors of several jurisdictions, consumer affairs and government administration. In August 2012, he was appointed to the role of Commonwealth Ombudsman.

Mr Neave also held the positions of Chairman of the Commonwealth Consumer Affairs Advisory Council, Chief Ombudsman of the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Australian Banking Industry Ombudsman, of the Chairperson of the Legal Services Board of Victoria and Vice Chair of the Australian Press Council, among many others.

His profound experience in the field of public administration as well as complaint resolution will provide a solid foundation for his work as Regional President.
