The South African Military Ombud, Lieutenant General (Retired) V.R. Masondo, has the pleasure of inviting all IOI members to attend the Annual Military Ombud Symposium with the theme “Affirming and Promoting the Military Ombud’s Oversight Responsibility: 30 years into democracy.”
Thee Annual Military Ombud Symposium will take place on Friday, 22 November 2024, and can be attended in person or vitually. The event will start at 9.30 am SAST (UTC+2). Guests should be seated by 9.15 am at The Maslow, Time Square, Corner Aramist & Corobray Avenue, Waterkloof Glen, Pretoria, South Africa.
The Military Ombud is mandated to investigate complaints lodged in writing by a member, a former member of the SANDF regarding his or her conditions of services, a member of the public regarding the official conduct of a member of the SANDF, or a person acting on behalf of a member.
The Military Ombud Symposium serves to engage stakeholders and also publicise the core function in line with Office outreach activities and social mobilisation campaigns. The event will conclude with a symposium statement and further plans are underway to publish a symposium booklet. In case of participation, you are therefore kindly asked to indicate your consent to the publication of your photo and biography in line with the POPI Act.
