“Fairness, accountability and good governance” are the most important principles regarding the behaviour of the authorities towards the people, Fiona Crean highlights within the Annual Report on the year 2011. The Ombudsman of Toronto is appreciative of the challenges towards the public administration, especially in respect of the economic situation, but she points out, that even in case of necessary change, “the imperative for fair and equitable service must remain central”.
Therefore she underlines the importance of a legislative amendment by the implementation of a Public Service Act by the Province of Ontario. This would cause clarity not only for the residents but also for the public servants, the Ombudsman is convinced.
The Annual Report 2010 is now available on the Website of the Ombudsman of Toronto as well as on the Website of the I.O.I.
