USA/IOWA | State attorney’s attempt to interfere with Ombudsman’s independent authority

In an interview with The Des Moines Register, Iowa Ombudsman Ruth Cooperrider said state attorneys have taken steps in the past year that strike at the heart of the Office’s independent authority.

Ombudsman Cooperrider expressed her concern that decisions recently made by the attorney general could interfere with her office’s future inquiries.
