SINT MAARTEN | Team Ombudsman has been elected Daily Herald’s Person of the Year

The Ombudsman Bureau of St. Maarten, headed by Nilda Arduin, has been elected Person of the Year 2013 by the Daily Herald newspaper. The Ombudsman Bureau presented several political decisions that were deemed not to conform with Constitutional Law to the Constitutional Court for its judgement.

The Ombudsman Bureau not only proved to be a guardian of the Constitution, but also provided valuable assistance whenever the people of St. Maarten felt wronged by government or any of its entities. Up to November 2013 a total of 52 complaints were filed, mostly concerning the Ministries of General Affairs and of Justice.
