AORC | Webinar on Promoting the Role of the Ombudsman: Increasing Awareness and Recognition of the Institution's Importance

Join the African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC), the research and training arm of the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA) for the thought-provoking Ombuds Day 2024 Webinar on "Promoting the Role of the Ombudsman: Increasing Awareness and Recognition of the Institution's Importance" on Tuesday, 8 October 2024, at 10 am (GMT+2), organised in collaboration with the International Ombudsman Institute.

The 2024 theme “Ombuds: Here to Hear You,” highlights Ombudsman institutions' critical role in listening to the public and addressing their concerns. The event aims to elevate global awareness of the Ombudsman’s role in promoting transparency, accountability, and justice across sectors.

This webinar will offer valuable insights on the evolution and impact of Ombuds institutions worldwide.

Speakers are as follows:

  • Prof. Chris Gill  (University of Glasgow) – speaking on the historical and contemporary roles of Ombuds institutions.

  • Adv. John Walters (Former Ombudsman of Namibia) – exploring challenges and achievements of Ombudsman offices worldwide.

  • Hon. Grace Malera (Ombudsman of Malawi) – discussing future directions and advocacy for the Ombudsman profession.

  • Hon. Tejan Ahmed Israel Jah (Ombudsman of Sierra Leone) will facilitate this insightful session
