Le Comité des droits de l’enfant de l’ONU sanctionne la France pour l’absence de protection d’un mineur non accompagné qui se trouvait à la rue. Le Défenseur des droits, qui est mécanisme de suivi indépendant de l’application de la CIDE en France et garant du respect des droits de l’enfant protégé par cette Convention, est intervenu dans la procédure.

The Alberta Ombudsman, Kevin Brezinski, met with the African Canadian Civic Engagement Council (ACCEC) on 15 February 2023. The organization is a national public affairs organization that promotes and strengthens opportunities for African, Caribbean, Black and Racialized Communities.

The University of Applied Sciences Vienna (FH Campus Wien) has conducted a study on the role of Ombudsman institutions in the context of the growing digitalization of public services worldwide, to which IOI members contributed by filling in an online survey and by participating in interviews.

The Ombudsman's Office of Latvia has recently published its January 2023 News Summary containing news articles on its call for a review of the amount of child maintenance paid by the State, 11 urgent issues for the Parliament to consider, or the accessibility of banking services for people with physical, sensory, and mental impairments.

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman issued a guide to help care providers learn from its complaints involving record keeping. The new guide focuses on a number of case studies highlighting the common issues the Ombudsman sees, and also includes good practice tips to help providers avoid the problems from occurring in their own settings.

Deputy-Ombudsman Maija Sakslin has solved several complaints related to the inhuman treatment of older people and the use of strong restrictive measures during physical pain or terminal care or after surgery. The Deputy-Ombudsman has drawn attention to the fact that the complaints mention the same serious shortcomings.
