Report says that despite “beacons of good practice”, too many people at risk of homelessness are victims of “injustice” due to unacceptable delays, inadequate processes, poor communication and placement in unsuitable accommodation. The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales recommends a new Housing Regulator role to assist local authorities in fulfilling their statutory duties consistently.

Durante los últimos años el Síndic ha recibido quejas ante la lista de espera de asignación de una plaza en un recurso residencial para jóvenes menores de 18 años con discapacidad. Con el análisis de los casos concretos estudiados, el Síndic ha podido constatar que la lista de espera para acceder a esta tipología de recurso avanza muy lentamente así como una falta de plazas suficientes de este tipo de dotación.

Ombudsman John Walters bids farewell with the offices Annaul Report 2020 - a year which was, without a doubt, the most significant year. On 21 March Namibia celebrated its 30th Independence Anniversary with the Covid-19 pandemic on our doorsteps. Despite the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Office managed to comply with its statutory duties and to commemorate 30 years of Ombudsmanship in Namibia with the publication of a 30th Anniversary Commemorative Book.

The 2020-21 annual report summarizes a productive year, albeit a uniquely challenging one. When COVID-19 significantly affected operations, the Ombudsman’s office adjusted in order to fulfill its mandate of ensuring fairness for Albertans seeking assistance from the public service.
