As humans are increasingly replaced by machines to make decisions, British Columbia and Yukon Ombudsman and Information and Privacy Commissioners are calling on governments to protect fairness and privacy when artificial intelligence (AI) is used in public service delivery. A special report released today, Getting Ahead of the Curve, raises a number of fairness and privacy concerns that impact the public.

In the scope of an initiative of the Ibero-American Federation of Ombudsman (FIO) on the exceptional measures decreed by Member-States in the scope of the combat and of the mitigation of the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ombudsman Office drafted a chapter on the State of Emergency in Portugal.

On June 20, voting day for snap parliamentary elections in the Republic of Armenia, the Office of the Human Rights Defender received 59 alarming calls and complaints concerning the electoral process and 570 social media and media publications were examined.

The IOI is pleased to share the research study on "Issues of Girls' Education in Sindh" conducted on the initiative of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh in collaboration with Sindh Education Foundation (SEF).
