Northern Ireland Police Ombudsman Marie Anderson has published a review of the legislation under which the office operates, in accordance with section 61(4) of the Police (NI) Act 1998.

Based on the ODIHR Reference Tool supporting NHRIs during public emergencies, ENNHRI and ODIHR will hold an online seminar on the “Role of NHRIs in Public Emergencies” on 11 December 2020 from 9h00 – 13h00 CET. The coronavirus pandemic has caused an “educational crisis” and children are one of the most vulnerable groups due to the measures taken to curb and eliminate the epidemic. On the occasion of World Children's Day, the Human Rights Ombudsman has prepared a project for children and young people entitled "If you see injustice, use justice!"

The Ombudsman of Ireland published the Winter 2020 edition of the Ombudsman’s Casebook. It contains the usual mix of cases from across the public service. It is a useful source of learning, and helps to highlight areas where possible service failures can be avoided.

The House of Representatives reappointed Reinier van Zutphen as National Ombudsman of the Netherlands on 24 November 2020.

The International Ombudsman Institute is very happy to report that the UN resolution on the role of the Ombudsman (A/RES/72/186) was adopted by consensus on 19 November 2020 and that the final version of the resolution is due to be adopted by the UN General Assembly before the end of the year.
