B.C. Ombudsperson Kim Carter released her annual report today, showcasing investigations concluded with provincial public authorities in 2014/15. The report highlights public complaints in sectors ranging from local government to large provincial ministries.

The Office of The Ombudsman held a seminar entitled "Private Building Management" June 25. Around 60 Justices of the Peace ("JPs") and Advisers of the Office attended the seminar and exchanged views with the guest speaker and other participants regarding the Government's policy on private building management, its role and support services provided to property owners, and several new measures and schemes being implemented.

The Ombudsman, Soledad Becerril, has presented a study on the situation of Spanish prisoners abroad which analyses 224 complaints dealt with by the Institution in the last two years, and makes recommendations for improving the situation that the prisoners find themselves in.

IOI Secretary General, Günther Kräuter, opened the first IOI Training specifically designed for Ombudsman Institutions functioning as National Preventive Mechanism (NPM). The 2,5-day learning experience was hosted by the Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia.

Ombudsman Peter Tyndall has today, Thursday 25 June, welcomed the announcement by Minister Brendan Howlin and Minister Leo Varadkar that his Office will be able to examine complaints from the public about private nursing homes.

In May 2015 Danang Girindrawardana, Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, was a panel speaker at the 2nd World Bank – International Ombudsman Institute Roundtable on the role of ombudsman institutions (OIs) in promoting citizen-centric governance and inclusive institutions.

The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) of Korea (Chairman Sungbo Lee) and the Commonwealth Ombudsman of Australia (Ombudsman Colin Neave) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Canberra on June 10th, 2015 in order to enhance rights and interests of Koreans and Australians living in the other country and cooperation between the two Ombudsmen.
