The Office of the Ombudsman in Malawi, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Malawi School of Government (MSG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing their partnership in the fight against corruption.

It is with great sadness that the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) has learned of the recent passing of Stephen Owen, former Ombudsman of British Columbia and former IOI President, in Vancouver at the age of 74.

The Official Information Act (OIA) came into force 40 years ago on 1 July 1983. Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier says transparency and information access rights remain as important today as in 1983 when the OIA came into effect.

In its Annual Report 2022, the Office of the Ombudsman for Bermuda reports on its efforts and progress during its 17th year in service. A total of 213 cases, of which 177 were complaints and 36 enquiries, were received during the year under review.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Niels Fenger, published a new article in the Danish Weekly Law Reports (Ugeskrift for Retsvæsen) on the Ombudsman’s role as protector of human rights. In the article, he analyses the overlap of human rights with the Ombudsman’s tasks.

The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) has recently published its Quarterly Bulletin of June 2023. The Bulletin provides updates on the institution's most recent work, including the launch of new complaints handling standards for local councils and a report on communications with patients on healthcare waiting lists.
