During the 2021 financial year, the Ombudsman received a total of 4,866 complaints. After fact-finding, decisions and recommendations to relevant government agencies were issued on 2,675 of these complaints. The remaining 2,191 complaints are still under investigation.

On March 17, 2022, the National Assembly of Québec appointed Mr. Marc-André Dowd the Québec Ombudsman. His term of office will begin on March 27, 2022. His career and his indepth knowledge of the Québec Ombudsman institution are a natural fit with his new role.

The African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) invites you to attend a webinar on “Seeking higher ground – values and ethics of the Ombudsman” to be held on 30 March 2022. March 24, 2022 is Whistleblower Awareness Day. It’s a day for recognizing how difficult and yet how important it is to speak up if you are concerned about a possible wrongdoing in your workplace. Saskatchewan’s Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner, Mary McFadyen said, “I want to acknowledge the role of whistleblowers, particularly in the public sector, for having the courage to speak up if they think something is seriously wrong at work.”
