The Council of Europe’s expert body on racism and intolerance (ECRI) has published today a revised General Policy Recommendation on preventing and combating anti-Muslim racism and discrimination to help prevent and counter increasing public manifestations of anti-Muslim racism and discrimination across Europe.

The International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) expresses its deep concern for the plight of the civilian population in Ukraine and the devastation brought by the war. The IOI urges all parties involved to respect their international obligations and to support all efforts to achieve a de-escalation of hostilities.

The Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) has recently published a paper on “Women in Detention - Body Searches” that highlights findings from NPMs around the world and proposes concrete recommendations for change.

2022 marks a big year for the New Zealand Ombudsman. The office is celebrating 60 years since ist establishment. The Ombudsman is pleased to present her special report on “Bus Service – Communications”, which was tabled in the House of Assembly on 18 February 2022.  The Department of Public Transportation (“DPT”) agreed to the Ombudsman’s recommendations, to improve its way of approaching communications about the Bus Services.
