The Federal Ombudsman of Belgium published a new information brochure for whistleblowers. It is an informative and practical tool with the most important information for whistleblowers who want to make a report to the Federal Ombudsman. The brochure sets out the procedures for making a report and for obtaining protection from the Belgian institution.

On 25 June 2024, Parliamentary Ombudsman Petri Jääskeläinen submitted his Annual Report 2023 to Speaker of Parliament Jussi Halla-aho. In 2023, there were a total of 7,124 complaints (6,613 in 2022). This is just over 500 (7.7%) more than the previous year. The largest number of complaints concerned social welfare 1,136 (997), the police 855 (821), healthcare 803 (751) and criminal sanctions 591 (672). In the reporting year, 6,876 complaints were resolved. The corresponding figure in 2022 was 6,857.

First follow-up session of Brand Ambassador Program was held on 10 July 2024 at the Secretariat Provincial Ombudsman Sindh with the 10 selected students as Ambassadors for Ombudsman Sindh from the Sindh Madressatul Islam University. Mr Mustafa Jatio, Assistant Director SMIU accompanied the students.

The Office of the Ombudsman has released the 2023 Annual Report which presents the activities that the Office carried out in the year. Pursuant to the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi and the Ombudsman Act, the Ombudsman has submitted the report to the National Assembly through the Office of the speaker.

On 8 July 2024, the Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon, presented the Annual Report 2023 to the Speaker of the House, Anglu Farrugia. Throughout 2023, the Office of the Ombudsman focused on enhancing its working relationship with the public administration. It adopted an open-door policy, reaching out to the public and government entities alike.

On Monday, 8 July 2024, the Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon, expressed his despair at the last volume of case reports published by the Child Law Project. He has also expressed serious concern about the fact that the Child Law Project has not been re-commissioned, and fears that this indicates the shutting down of open communication between the courts and the public in relation to children in care.

The Commonwealth National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) and the ACT Ombudsman, as part of the ACT NPM, jointly monitor the conditions of detention in AFP and ACT policing facilities, to prevent the risk of torture or ill-treatment of detainees.
