The Annual Report 2020 of the Chancellor of Justice of Estonia is now available in English. It covers the period from 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020 and gives an overview of the activities of the Chancellor of Justice in different areas, such as the rule of law, the rights of the child, the rights of persons with disabilities, inspection visits, protection and promotion of human rights, protection of privacy, and many others.

The Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Cyprus, presents her ex-officio position on the living conditions of the Roma community in Cyprus as well as an English summary of the report.

As in previous years, the Ombudsman SA completed several investigations that led to important, systemic changes in public administration. In 2019-20, nearly 4,000 complaints have been handled by the Ombudsman SA.

The Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman), published a report regarding a visit to the Reception and Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia on 4 December 2020, which was made within the framework of her jurisdiction as National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) and National Preventive Mechanism (NPM).

Syed Jamal Ud Din Shah, has taken over charge of the post of Provincial Ombudsman of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. He follows Aqal Badshah Khattak, whose term of office ended earlier this year.

Ombudsman, and President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), Peter Tyndall has warmly welcomed the United Nations resolution on the Ombudsman institution, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 16 December 2020.
