Only one in three people complain to a public service when they are unhappy, according to new research
A research by the Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman published today shows that just one-third of people that are unhappy after using a public service actually make a complaint, despite an overwhelming number feeling that they should.The research is based on the results of a national survey, which questioned 4,263 people and focused on the public's attitude over the last 12 months to complaining about those public services, such as the NHS in England, which the ombudsman service investigates in the event of unresolved complaints.

Control Yuan signs cooperation agreement with Médiateur du Faso
A delegation led by the head of Médiateur du Faso, Ms. Alima Déborah Traore, visited the Control Yuan (CY) on the morning of March 8, 2016. They first met with CY President Dr. Chang Po-ya at her office; then the two sides signed a cooperation agreement in the CY plenary meeting. Manitoba Ombudsman reviews privacy breach
On April 17, 2017, Manitoba Ombudsman was first advised of a privacy breach, and shortly thereafter, was made aware that the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) would be conducting an internal review. Ombudsman sensitizes Police, immigration and Prisons Departments
The office of the Ombudsman organized a one day sensitization workshop as part of the Ombudsman’s preparations to visit prisons, police cells and other detention centers. The workshop was attended by fifty eight participants from the Police, Immigration and Prisons departments as well as staff of the Ombudsman and Press officers and was held at Senegambia Hotel on 10th August 2017.

Obituary: Charles Norman Geschke - Victorian Ombudsman
Passed away in Melbourne on 23 July 2018, aged 94. Norman was Victoria’s second Ombudsman, following a distinguished career with the RAAF and six years as Victoria’s first Director of Consumer Affairs. We all strive to make a difference in life, but not too many people can look back on a life quite so well-lived, who helped so many thousands of people, as Charles Norman Geschke, popularly known as Norm.

IGT report on review into GST Refunds publicly released
The Inspector-General of Taxation (IGT) welcomes the release of his report into the Australian Taxation Office’s (ATO) verification of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Refunds. The review arose from concerns raised through the taxpayer complaints and IGT work program about the ATO’s GST Refunds risk assessment tools and adequacy of the ATO’s engagement with taxpayers and their representatives where release of refunds is delayed.

Last Thursday, 6th of December, the Ombudsman Paul Dubé committed his office to the new responsibilities that were transferred to it under the Restoring Trust, Transparency and Accountability Act, 2018. Manitoba Ombudsman releases a report under PHIA about a privacy breach related to MRI services
Manitoba Ombudsman has released an investigation report under the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) related to the unauthorized disclosure of personal health information of 91 patients who received magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) between 2008 and 2016. The patients’ health information was disclosed in violation of PHIA to several media organizations.
