From 15 – 16 November 2022, the second meeting of this year of the Southeast European Network of National Preventive Mechanisms (SEE NPM Network) was held in Vienna under the chairmanship of the Austrian Ombudsman Board. Within this network, 13 NPMs meet regularly to exchange experiences and facilitate shared learning.

From 10 - 11 November 2022 the annual meeting of German-speaking National Preventive Mechanisms (NPM) took place at the Austrian Ombudsman Board in Vienna. For the first time, representatives of the NPM from Luxembourg and the Principality of Liechtenstein took part in this exchange as well.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government held a ‘Panel Discussion on the Performance and Direction of the Citizens’ Ombudsman Commission’ on October 20, 2022 to look at the performance of the Citizens’ Ombudsman Commission and the plans on the direction of improving the rights of the people.

The International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) presents its Annual Report for the membership year 2020/2021. The report gives account of the main projects, developments and achievements made in the past membership year and it is now available in all three languages of the IOI.

The Greek Ombudsman published on 7th November a Special Report on Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This is the third of its kind since the assignment to the Ombudsman of the special mandate for the external, independent monitoring of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Ombudsman Antónia Florbela Rocha Araújo defended training and technical capacity building of staff belonging to the Portuguese Language Countries Community (CPLP) as a priority, to ensure that institutions, such as the Ombudsman's office can provide a better quality service to citizens.
