The UK Ombudsman is co-hosting the Launch of the European IOI Learning Academy on 16-17 January 2024, in Manchester. The roundtable will be held in person and remotely and have presentations from key IOI stakeholders on the need for a new academy, the issues to be addressed and the learning styles to adopt. At the 26th Presentation Ceremony of The Ombudsman’s Awards on 15 November 2023, the Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, presented the Grand Award to the Immigration Department, an Award for Public Organisation to the Efficiency Office and the Hospital Authority separately, and the Award on Mediation to the Chief Secretary for Administration’s Office. Individual Awards were also given to 62 public officers.

Over 10 months of 2023, the Ombudsman and Public Groups conducted 452 monitoring visits to places of detention. In the period of 10 months of 2022, this figure was 297.

At its session held on 18 October 2023, the Committee on Human and National Minority Rights of the Croatian Parliament unanimously voted in favor of the Ombudswoman’s Annual Report 2022. Parliamentary members of the Committee pointed out that the Report is comprehensive and well-argued, as well as that the analyses, data and the conclusions it contains are widely read and used.
