On Friday 1 November 2019 the office of the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands will organize a Poldershop on how ombudsman assess the actions of government. Some ombudsman refer to the law, others to human rights treaties and still others have their own list of norms. Save the date!

 

The Ombudsman addressed a recommendation to the Minister of Justice to amend Act No. 32/2008 of 17 July on the retention of data generated or processed in the context of the provision of communications services publicly available electronic communications networks or public communications networks.
 

An event on "Child rights: Equal opportunities" was held by the Ombudsman Institution of Azerbaijan jointly with Goygol District Executive Power in the Gizilja village school. The issue of effective education and upbringing of the children for the future was highlighted during the event.

Los representantes de la Asociación de Defensores del Pueblo de la República Argentina (Adpra) mantuvieron un encuentro con el titular de la Inspección General de Justicia (IGJ) a quien le entregaron una propuesta elaborada por las defensorías donde propusieron diferentes maneras de abordar la problemática surgida por los incrementos desproporcionados en las cuotas de los planes de autos 0 kilómetro.

The Ombudsman of Hong Kong, Ms Connie Lau, published the Office of The Ombudsman’s Brief Report 2018 on 31 January.   The Office received a total of 10,130 enquiries and 4,870 complaints in 2018. The figures were at similar levels to those in the past few years, with an average of 850 enquiries and 400 complaints per month. 

The Commission has published a study that seeks to promote best practice for providing enhanced opportunities for individuals with disabilities to be involved in organised sports.There are an estimated 80m people with a disability in the European Union (EU), equivalent to approximately 15% of the EU population. Disabled people are less likely to take part in organised sport than non-disabled individuals, this despite the many positive benefits of participation.
