8th AOM training session held in Casablanca
The eighth training session of the Association of the Mediterranean Ombudsmen, jointly organized by the AOM and the Ombudsman Institution in the Kingdom of Morocco, was successfully held on October 18 and 19, 2017 at the Training and Exchange in mediation Center in Casablanca. Dispensed to the collaborators of the Association’s member mediators, this session was an opportunity to discuss the theme of « the deontology of security forces and the rights of migrants during their migratory journey: the role of Ombudsmen institutions ».

2019 Annual Report of the Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia
The report covers all segments of life that directly or indirectly affect the rights of citizens, and it is also a reflection of their perception of how the administration functioned in the previous year through the number of submitted complaints. There is no better benchmark for the (non) functioning of the institutions than the complaints of the citizens who are trying every day to exercise their rights as guaranteed by the Constitution and the law.

Commonwealth Ombudsman reports into ACT Policing's engagement with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
We would like to acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples, the traditional custodians of the Canberra region and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Today, the Commonwealth and ACT Ombudsman, Michael Manthorpe PSM, released a report of his investigation into ACT Policing's framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement. The Ombudsman looked at whether the programs, policies, procedures and training ACT Policing has in place to manage its engagement with the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community are appropriate and well administered.

The Ombudsman collaborated with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to resolve a problem of locals having no electricity
The amount of 9 locals - who reside at moo 9 and moo 20, Muang Kao sub-district, Prachin Buri province - had submitted an appeal to the Ombudsman to find facts on the actions of the Provincial Electricity Authority - Kabin Buri Office and of the Muang Kao Sub-district Administrative Office about not expanding the electricity distribution area which has had an impact on them for more than 50-years.

Connecting Ombudsman Procedures and Citizens: Advancing Public Engagement and Accessibility in Hungary
The Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary has successfully implemented the IOI-supported regional subsidy project “Connecting Ombudsman Procedures and Citizens”. The two-phase initiative aimed at strengthening public awareness of the Ombudsman’s work, particularly in the field of disability rights, and at familiarizing the public with the network of newly established regional offices.

Remote media training for IOI members
Online learning and face-to-face training via videoconference. The IOI is pleased to offer its first online training course with a specific focus on media skills. Participants will learn how to approach media interviews with confidence and focus, how to manage difficult questions and how to bring across key messages. The training will be held on 19 November 2020 and is directed specifically at office holders or their respective media spokespersons. Registration is now open!

The Wafaqi Mohtasib Pakistan, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, has said that all the Ombudsmen are working in their respective jurisdictions with a commitment to resolve the grievances of the general public speedily. On 31 August 2024, these remarks were made by Mr. Qureshi while inaugurating the Annual Conference of Banking Mohtasib Pakistan with the "Focus on Values in Public Sector Services" at a local hotel in Karachi.

On 22 June 2011, the Council of Ministers appointed Mr Dominique Baudis for a period of six years to the post of Défenseur des droits (Defender of Rights) of France. He takes office in the newly created Ombudsman institution in France, as successor of the Médiateur de la République.

Premier Stephen McNeil announced today, Nov. 29, that Dwight Bishop will retire Dec. 31. Mr. Bishop has served as Nova Scotia Ombudsman since 2004.
