Webinar on Ombudsman innovations for advancing open government
On Tuesday, 17 March 2015 at 10am (Eastern Standard Time), a webinar on “Ombudsman Innovations for advancing Open Government” will take place. The joint project is sponsored by the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the World Bank Governance Global Practice (GGP) and the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and will aim to discuss the opportunities for Ombudsman offices to engage in their respective countries’ OGP processes.

Call for senior experts to support consultancy project
The Office of the Ombudsman of Malawi is looking for one senior expert to take on the consultancy in a project funded by the European Union, which aims at improving democratic governance via a more effective and responsive judiciary and improved accountability and oversight. Ombudsman institutions to be strengthened by Council of Europe recommendation
Irish Ombudsman and IOI President Peter Tyndall has warmly welcomed a Council of Europe recommendation which will further strengthen ombudsman institutions across Europe. The 47-member Council of Europe has called on member States to put in place independent ombudsman institutions with a firm legal basis and protect them when needed.
