The Chief Ombudsman is calling on Ara Poutama Aotearoa | The Department of Corrections to address outstanding concerns at Manawatū Prison and the secure Matawhāiti Residence in Christchurch.

 

In a statement, the European Board of the IOI unanimously expressed their sincere concern regarding the situation in Israel and Gaza.

From 9 – 12 October 2023, IOI Secretary General Gaby Schwarz met high-ranking UN representatives in New York to raise awareness about the important work Ombudsman institutions around the world provide every day and how this work contributes to the UN human rights agenda.

Applications are sought from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for the role of the next Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday, 26 November 2023.

On Thursday, 5 October 2023, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Malawi Grace Tikambenji Malera took oath of office as Commissioner for the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC). Honorable Malera together with eight others were hosted to a swearing in ceremony by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe. The swearing-in ceremony follows their appointment by the President three weeks earlier.

El encuentro es un llamado a la acción, colaboración y defensa de los valores que representan las defensorías del Pueblo para enfrentar los desafíos y continuar en la construcción de un futuro en el que la justicia y la equidad prevalezcan.

The Ombudsman Commission has conducted a series of inspections in the Kikori District, with the aim of addressing critical issues faced by local communities and government institutions. These inspections serve as a means to assess challenges and gather information that will inform future actions and interventions by the Commission.
