In these responses, all human rights must be kept at the heart, as they can help us in overcoming this public health challenge while protecting our dignity and democratic freedoms.

In a note the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights reflects the role of NHRIs with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic and offers an "Aide Memoire" that has been developed by OHCHR to provide guidance to NHRI interventions based on international human rights standards.
