Irish Ombudsman Peter Tyndall has again expressed his concerns over the unsuitability of accommodation in Direct Provision. He said that the highly contagious nature of the COVID-19 virus has highlighted how unsustainable it is to have three or more people, who are not from the same family, living in the same room for a significant amount of time.

The Chief Ombudsman is mindful of the need to enter facilities and carry out inspections in a way that is safe, effective and supportive and has established a set of principles to guide facilities and their staff in managing this crisis.

L’année dernière, le bureau de l’Ombudsman de Montréal (OdM) a reçu 1 910 nouvelles demandes (105 de plus qu’en 2018) et lancé 259 nouvelles enquêtes qui se sont ajoutées aux 56 déjà en cours. Au total, ont traité 1 966 dossiers, mené 302 enquêtes et effectué 13 suivis pour assurer le respect d’engagements antérieurs.

En estos días el Banco de Sangre hace un llamamiento ciudadano para mantener el ritmo de donaciones, que siguen siendo necesarias durante la epidemia de la Covid-19 para tratamientos de cáncer, accidentes, partos con complicaciones, entre otras situaciones. El Síndic de Greuges de Cataluña es conocedor de esta situación y da su apoyo a la donación de sangre y plasma en unos días en que son imprescindibles.

On 16 April 2020, the Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu declared a direct investigation into the regulatory regime for the safe operation of lifts and escalators administered by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD).
