The Senate of Uzbekistan on May 15 elected Ulugbek Mukhammadiev as ombudsman of Oliy Majlis (...) Ulugbek Mukhammadiev, born in 1971, until now was the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-parliamentary Relations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He is also a member of the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival).

 

 

The Ombudsman’s Office has had a busy and productive year. A defining feature of the reporting period is the work that has been done within the office and with departments and agencies to prepare for the future. Accordingly, the theme of this year’s annual report is ‘looking forward’.

A new era of local government accountability begins January 1 when the Office of the Ontario Ombudsman takes on full oversight of municipalities, Acting Ombudsman Barbara Finlay said when she released the Office’s latest report.

La Defensoría del Pueblo de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires y la Comisión de Familiares de Desaparecidos y Detenidos por Razones Políticas firmaron hoy un nuevo convenio de cooperación mutua por medio del cual la institución digitalizará el archivo histórico de Familiares de Desaparecidos y Detenidos por Razones Políticas.

 

In its efforts to further increase the regional impact of the IOI, the members of the IOI Board of Directors decided at the Annual Board meeting in Windhoek to continue the regional subsidy programme for the membership year 2015/2016.

In December 2015, the Western Australian Ombudsman hosted two staff from the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI) for a one week internship as part of  the Indonesian/Australian Ombudsman Linkages and Strengthening Program. This follows the Office hosting a senior delegation from the office of the ORI in September 2015.

The 14th Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) Conference and General Assembly Meeting together with the 17th AOA Board of Directors Meeting were hosted by the Honourable Federal Ombudsman of Pakistan, H.E. Mr. M. Salman Faruqui on 24 & 25 November 2015 in Islamabad.
