Le Défenseur du Peuple du Venezuela M. Alfredo José RUIZ ANGULO effectue depuis ce Jeudi 20 Octobre une visite de travail de trois jours au Bénin. Arrivé depuis hier sur invitation du Médiateur de la République, il a été reçu ce matin en audience par le Ministre des Affaires Etrangères M. Aurélien AGBENONCI.

La síndica de greuges, Esther Giménez-Salinas, ha convocado esta mañana la Mesa de Emergencia Social, formada por nueve representantes de las entidades sociales catalanas –Mesa del Tercer Sector, DINCAT, Cáritas Cataluña, Cruz Roja, Amigos de los Mayores, Banco de Alimentos, Comunidad de Sant'Egidio, Arrels Fundación y Fundesplai– para mostrar su voluntad de seguir impulsando esta herramienta y para hablar sobre las líneas de futuro y los retos que habrá que afrontar.

Ombuds institutes have a special role in the social justice landscape of their countries that enables them to make significant contributions to the achievement of the SDGs and help close the global justice gap. A recent workshop allowed participating ombuds institutes to share their efforts to improve security sector governance as a core element of realizing SDG 16 on peaceful, just, and inclusive societies. On 13 October 2022, AORC and the IOI organized a webinar on the “UN Resolution on Ombudsman and Mediators, the Venice Principles and the OR Tambo Declaration”, to discuss how these instruments are used as tools to strengthen, protect, and promote the institution of the Ombudsman. The IOI’s Australasian & Pacific Region (APOR) held a conference on 13 October 2022 and its 34^th annual members’ meeting on 14 October 2022 in Wellington, New Zealand. The conference, on remaining relevant and getting government to listen, was co-hosted by Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass OBE as Regional President and New Zealand Chief Ombudsman and IOI 2^nd Vice President Peter Boshier.

Chris Field, President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) and Western Australian Ombudsman, provided an address at a ceremony held on the occasion of the 60^th Anniversary of the Office of the Ombudsman of New Zealand.
