Public Protector Adv. Thuli Madonsela met with the management of Mamelodi Regional Hospital and conducted an inspection in loco following media reports about the appalling state of patient care at the hospital.

On 20 October 2015 Maya Manolova assumed office as the new national Ombudsman of Bulgaria. Ms Manolova, a former Member of Parliament with the Bulgarian Socialist Party, was elected as the new Ombudsman at the end of July 2015 and will follow former Ombudsman Konstantin Penchev.

The severe conditions which children and families with children have to endure in Bělá-Jezová constitute a violation of the European Convention on Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Objectively speaking, children in the facility have worse living conditions than inmates in Czech prisons. Bělá-Jezová is a former military facility where the living conditions are, in many ways, much worse than those in Czech prisons.
