Ontario Ombudsman and International Ombudsman Institute co-host training session in Ontario
From Oct. 23 – Oct. 25, 2017, the Ontario Ombudsman’s Office presented three one-day workshops on managing unreasonable complainant conduct for its staff and participants from other North American oversight offices. Presented by Donald Sword of the New South Wales Ombudsman, the sessions focused on techniques and strategies for mitigating challenging complainant behaviour and mediating issues arising from that behaviour.

An international conference on “Comparative Indicators for Measuring Progress in Human Rights” was co-organized in Uzbekistan by UN, OSCE, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation and the National Center on Human Rights of Uzbekistan. IOI President and Secretary General take part in ENO Conference 2018
Irish Ombudsman and IOI President Peter Tyndall and Austrian Ombudsman and IOI Secretary General Günther Kräuter took part in the annual European Network of Ombudsman Conference on 8-9 March 2018 in Brussels. The conference topics were the future of the EU, current and future challenges for Ombudsmen and cross-border problem solving for EU citizens.

An applicant made four separate requests under the Freedom of Information Law (2018 Revision) to the Department of Immigration for records relating to various topics, including policies, procedures and guidelines on the handling of applications for permanent residency. No initial response was given, and no internal review was conducted.

Ombudsman presents Annual Report 2018-2019
The Ombudsman for the Ministry of Interior of Bahrain has recently published its sixth Annual Report covering the period 1 May 2018 to 30 April 2019.In this period the Ombudsman has received 1067 complaints and assistance requests. Ombudsman Nawaf Mohamed Al Moawdah declares that this number reflects the users´ confidence in the impartiality, professionalism and commitment to justice of the Bahrain Ombudsman for the Ministry of Interior.
